ULB and Femto-st organise the very first workshop on Capillary Micromanipulation (WCM) on 9 March 2021.

Which applications for fluid interfaces?

We are delighted to invite you to the first edition of the Workshop on Capillary Micromanipulation (WCM), to be held online on 9 March 2021 from 4pm to 7pm CET. This edition will convene experts in the field of capillarity, with special focus on the applications of fluid interfaces (self-assembly, manipulation, manufacturing, and others). The workshop will feature plenary talks by recognised scientist in the field, as well as short presentations followed by a voluntary discussion to enhance the networking opportunities between young researchers.

Plenary talks:

  • Karl F. Bohringer, University of Washington: Moving drops on micro-structured surfaces.
  • Peer Fischer, Max Planck Institute: Interfacial flows in chemically active systems.
  • Massimo Mastrangeli, TU Delft: The fluid joint: a versatile assembly tool.
  • Benoit Scheid, ULB: Interfacial dynamics in liquid films and ligament stretching.

The application for short presentations is now open. If you would like to participate, please submit a one-page abstract explaining what you intend to present to our website. This section will consist in a 5-minute presentation, during which you will introduce your work, followed by a voluntary discussion time, during which each speaker will have their own virtual room to further discuss their work with interested colleagues.
