Start research

After a master of 120 credits, you have the opportunity to start a PhD and become a researcher at the École polytechnique de Bruxelles. This postgraduate training includes a doctoral training, the development and writing of a doctoral thesis (a personal scientific work) as well as the public defense of this thesis. If successful, it leads to the title of doctor and can lead to positions of responsibility in the academic sector, public or private.

Undertaking a PhD goes through several stages:

  • Find out if you have access to a PhD programme
  • Define your thesis topic
  • Contact a thesis supervisor
  • Choosing the members of your guidance committee
  • Apply for PhD funding
  • Submit your application
